To those that might not have been following this story, this language might sound like an exaggeration — but I assure you it is not.
Vickie Paladino and her goons descended on the Queens Greenway workshop on Thursday, nearly inciting violence at multiple points, to fight against bike lanes and greenways.
Her motley crowd of agressive morons included her own son Thomas Paladino, an outspoken white supremacist who has said that Africans are savages and threatened to shoot Maxine Waters, and multiple staffers who refused to identify themselves to the public, despite trying to speak for the event in an official capacity and physicially intimidate the participants.
Even at this meeting, the racism was on full display. The “biggest concern” Paladino gave for opposing the greenway expansion was because “taking one neighborhood and intersecting in with another neighborhood, makes up for what I consider kind of a runway if anyone’s commiting crimes.” In case you don’t speak crazy, let me translate into the language her supporters heard. “This will make it easier for those immigrents and non-white people we’re constantly demonizing that live in other parts of Queens to bike through our almost entirely white, affluent neighborhood.”
This is frankly revolting conduct that should be addressed by the City Council, and should lead to Vickie Paladino being removed from office. Frankly, it should never have gotten to this point, given Vickie’s past history repeatedly trying to label gay people “groomers,” saying college students that protest should be “slayed” or any of her other dispicable behavior. This is not someone that should be able to speak for this city or conduct official meetings with the public.
